Anime Recommendations

Post by Nahnyahanyanah on Mon Sep 28, 2009 3:13 am

Recommend your 10/10 animes here. Refrain from posting mainstreams animes such as Code Geass, Naruto, Clannad if possible as many probably seen it.

Ill go first

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni

Anime adaption from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni ( ひぐらしのなく頃に. When the Cicadas Cry), a japanese murder mystery doujin soft sound novel series produced by 07th Expansion.

The show takes place in a small community by the name of Hinamizawa. You follow the character Keiichi and his friends. One day while helping his friend Rena retrieve a figurine from a garbage dump, he comes across a camera man who makes mention of a gruesome murder that happened there years ago. When he asked Rena and his friends about this, they all seemed to say the same thing, almost as if they were hiding something; something deadly
Sequels : Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Rei

One of my personal top favourite anime of all times.

Elfen Lied

Animation adapted from manga (エルフェンリート, Erufen Rīto) by Lynn Okamoto.

The Diclonius, a mutated homo sapien that is said to be selected by God and will eventually become the destruction of mankind, possesses two horns in their heads, and has a "sixth sense" which gives it telekinetic abilities. Due to this dangerous power, they have been captured and isolated in laboratories by the government. [Lucy], a young and psychotic Diclonius, manages to break free of her confines and brutally murder most of the guards in the laboratory, only to get shot in the head as she makes her escape. She survives and manages to drift along to a beach, where two teenagers named Kouta and Yuka discovers her. Having lost her memories, she was named after the only thing that she can now say, "Nyuu," and the two allow her to stay at Kouta's home. However, it appears that the evil "Lucy" is not dead just yet...

Proven Epic

Sola

Sola is a Japanese work originally conceived by Naoki Hisaya ( Writer of Kanon) and original character design by Naru Nanao ( Designer of D.C:Da Capo).

Morimiya Yorito is a normal 15-yearold high school student with a unique interest. He enjoys the sky, whether it be just gazing up at it, or taking pictures of it. He lives alone as his only family, his elder sister, is ill and is in the hospital.
While setting up his equipment to take a picture of the dawning sun over the sea he meets a young girl, but she leaves before he is able to ask her name. The next night Yorito meets th mysterious girl again, who introduces herself as Shihou Matsuri, and discovers that she shares an interest in the sky.
The third time they meet he discovers that someone intends on harming her... and that she may not be human.
Voted by Japanese Anime Fans for Best Anime of 2007

For those who never watch any of the animes above, my advice is to watch it NAO!! You are losing in some epicness in the field

I watched Higurashi because the English Translation for it's Visual Novel took years. I normally would watch the original first then an adaption, but heck the anime is pure win. Id prefer Deaf you-Cry tho

Any other shows to recommend that i should be watching? Somewhere around the new ones
